Dear Summer Leadership Program Applicant,
 Thank you for your interest in participating in our Summer Leadership Program (SLP) which is scheduled for the week of July 18-24. As you may be aware, our program is intended to attract high school students who primarily have an interest in acquiring the skill sets necessary to enter the accounting profession. We are seeking those high school students who will enter 10th, 11th, and 12th grade the Fall 2010.
The Leventhal School of Accounting (LSOA) is ranked among the top five accounting schools in the nation. As such, we have been a major producer of undergraduate accounting majors for over twenty-five years.
The University of Southern California (USC) and Leventhal School of Accounting recognize our important presence and leadership role in the surrounding neighborhoods. USC is an urban campus that benefits from the business opportunities and cultural richness of the Los Angeles area. The changing demographic patterns in the domestic economy, especially the growth in businesses owned by members from underrepresented ethnic groups, suggest that the accounting profession will need far greater representation from these groups.
The Summer Leadership Program selects from a broad range of students representing various high schools and involves these students in many aspects of university life. This experience ranges from dormitory life through classroom lecture-discussion and visits to several businesses at no cost to the student. The initial part of the six-day program, beginning Sunday, July 18, will focus on admissions and financial aid as addressed by university experts. We will conclude the program with a banquet on Saturday, July 18th.
Applicants will be evaluated on the rigor of their high school coursework. Please mail in copies of your UNOFFICAL TRANSCRIPT, PERSONAL RESUME and TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATIONS. Your letters of recommendation should come from a person outside of your school (pastor, priest, coach, boy/girl scout leader, etc.). The other should come from a teacher, principal or counselor.

The SLP Application Deadline date is Monday April 12, 2010. Our in-house interview date will be scheduled and posted to our website.
